Laptop Saftey - Shutting Down

I shut the laptop down, but the next time I opened it, it seemed to be still shutting down. What happened?
Answer
You closed the lid too soon. When you shut the computer down, you need to wait for it to be completely off before you close the lid. If you don't, it will go to sleep instead. If you were shutting it down because you weren't going to be using it for several days to save the battery, or to save a battery that was already close to dying, you might be unpleasantly surprised the next time you power it up.
This also can be bad for your hard drive.
